Abstract

Mao Zedong upheld the principle of one China. After the founding of Peoples Republic of China, he was strongly against the two China attempt initiated by U.S. and, later, created favorable surrounding for peaceful liberation of Taiwan by facilitating the talks between China and America. Meanwhile, he showed his sincerity of peaceful liberation of Taiwan to authorities in Taiwan. His strategy of peaceful liberation of Taiwan have great impact on reunification of China in that his policy won over some of the leading members of KMT living abroad, and laid a solid foundation of the policy of peaceful reunification, and one country, two systems proposed by DENG Xiaopin.
