Textual Criticism and Sense of Ci A Study of Chen Tingzhuo's Ci Poetry Selection and Criticism

This paper gives a systematic survey of the late Qing Dynasty's Ci expert, Chen Tingzhuo's Ci selection and criticism, and shows his idea in Ci selection. With focus on Chen's comments on Cizong and Cixuan respectively by the Qing Dynasty poets, Zhu Yi-zun and Zhang Huiyan, this paper analyses his changes in the ideas of Ci. It also shows that Zhexi and Changzhou, the two Ci poetry schools, tended to be converged in the Late Qing period.
