Abstract
A kind of phenol degradation bacteria(MW-1) which was able to grow on phenol as sole carbon and energy sources was isolated from the soil of a coal gas factory of Shenyang. The highest endure capability of this bacterial strain for phenol was 1600 mg/L.The results of phenol degradation showed that the bacterial strain had strong biodegradation capability for phenol. After 6 h,the phenol with a concentration of 400 mg/L was degraded above 80% at the conditions of 30 °C,pH 5.5~7.5,liquid amount of 60 mL,the quantity of inoculation 20%,concuss speed of shake bed 120 r/min.Glucose had some inhibition on growth of bacteria and biodegradation capability for phenol, but at the presence of glucose(600 mg/L) the degradation rate of phenol with the bacteria MW-1 was still more than 60%.It is an effective treat method for phenol-containing wastewater with other kinds of carbon sources.
