Abstract

The 5-(2'-Thiazolylazo)-dimethyl amino benzoic acid has been synthesized. The properties of the reagent and its complex formation reaction with Cu (Ⅱ) are studied. A sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of micro amounts of Cu (Ⅱ) has been developed. The optimum condition for determination, the linear calibration range and the interference of various foreign ions are reported. The composition, the molar absorptivity and the stability constant of MR complex are determined. The method has been applied to the determination of micro amounts of Cu (Ⅱ) in the natural water.
