Abstract

This paper calculates the biological ecological footprint, ecological capacity and ecological tension index of Shizuishan City since 1978 based on ecological footprint model. The results show:(1) At present, the ecological economy development is unsustainable, and has the trend of worsening;(2) the ecological footprint is imbalance between total supply and total demand, and the total supply(ecological capacity) is insufficient;and(3) the structural contradictions of ecological footprint between supply and demand are prominent and the ecological footprints of farmland and grassland are far more than the ecological capacity. In order to reverse the unsustainable development trend,Shizuishan City,on the one hand, should control the excessive utilization of biological resources and control the excessive growth of biological ecological footprint during economic development;on the other hand,it should enhance the ecological capacity by optimizing the industrial structure and enhancing efficiency so as to alleviate the ecological tension.
