On the Generation of the Sense of Space in Novels

Abstract
By using some narrative techniques,the writers can bring the readers a sense of space even in their novels composed in the order of time.In traditional novels,the sense of space is produced through the description of surroundings and the change of spacial scenes.Modernistic novels seek a kind of formal spacialization of narration by breaking the monotonous time order with space-time cross and inversion,which shows the development tendency of novels' narrative art——seeking the effect of spacialization.
