Relationship between wound healing of diabetes mellitus and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor

Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between wound healing of diabetes mellitus and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor.Methods 70 C57BL /6 mice were divided into control group(n=35) and DM group(n=35).The animals were made full thickness skin wound(0.8 cm ×0.8 cm) in each side of midline after deep anesthesia.The wound sites were digitally photographed to calculate the percentage of wound closure computer image analysis software.The content of GM-CSF in the wound was measured by ELISA.Results The wound healing in DM mice was significantly delayed compared with that in the control mice from the third day after wounding.In the DM mice,the levels of GM-CSF expression were markedly increased from the first day after wounding and declined to lower levels in the two groups.At the first day and third day after wounding,GM-CSF levels in DM mice were significantly lower than those in the control mice.Conclusion The delayed wound healing in DM mice may be lower expression of GM-CSF in wound site.
