A Review of the First International Symposium of Liang Qichao and the Social Culture of Modern China

At the first International Symposium of Liang Qichao and the Social Culture of Modern China,papers presented by participants included Liang's ideas on Chinese national character and gender;his concepts of thought and culture;his views on philosophy and science;his viewpoints on political law,economy and society;his views on nation and religion,on history and literature;his ideas on the press and public opinions and education;and the relationships between Liang and some of his contemporaries,or Liang's roles in many important events in the history.The subjects were broad and detailed.At the same time,the perspectives were special and wide to re-examine the traditional ideas or explore some new topics,in which new methodologies were applied and new materials were discovered and utilized.All of this fully presented the academic creative spirit.
