Abstract
Objective To study the clinical significances of serum m-AST and m-AST/AST ratio in patients with various kinds of liver damage. Methods By use of immunoinhibition assays, the activity of m-AST was measured in 133 patients' serum. The m-AST/AST ratio was calculated. Results The activity of m-AST is 7.58±1.57. The activity of m-AST for patients when they first entered hospital is higher than the normal person(P0.01); and after two weeks of treatment, a sharp decline in m-AST and m-AST/AST ratio in patients who are getting better, while there is no noted change in patients from the groups of chronic hepatitis(P0.05).Conclusion Dynamically monitoring the changes in the serum m-AST/AST ratio may help to assess the extent which the substantial liver cells are damaged and diseased, forecast the development of the disease, as well as the discrimination and diagnosis of acute and chronic hepatitis.
