Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of double-port trans-umbilicus laparoscopic and mini-incision surgery in treatment of pediatric left indirect inguinal hernia. Methods Clinical date of 40 cases who underwent double-port trans-umbilicus laparoscopic surgery were retrospectively compared with those of 173 cases who underwent mini-incision surgery for left indirect inguinal hernia, including operative time, postoperative length of hospital stay, hospital cost, postoperative scrotal swelling and recurrence. Results There was no significant difference in the postoperative length of hospital stay between two groups, but the postoperative scrotal swelling in the laparoscopic surgery group showed significant advantage(17.5% vs.55.5%,P0.05),and the operative time and hospital cost in the open surgery group showed significant advantages[(24.27±14.395)min vs.(42.08±16.750)min,(5602.39±2508.223)yuan vs.(11 696.77±2602.759)yuan,each P0.05].Recurrence in 5 cases in the open surgery group,no other recurrence developed during the follow -up of 6 to 60 months. In addition,16 cases(16/40)of right occult hernia were found during operation in the laparoscopic surgery group. Conclusion Double-port trans-umbilicus laparoscopic surgery have the advantages of minimally invasion, detection of occult hernia and low complication, which should be promoted for treating left indirect inguinal hernia.
