Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the correlation between the patients' own factors and the incidence of catheterassociated urinary tract infections so as to put forward the interventions.METHODS By means of the prospective surveillance,a total of 12 367 hospitalized patients who underwent the urethral catheterization in the ICUs for 2days from Oct 2013 to Sep 2014 were investigated, the related factors for the catheter-associated urinary tract infections were analyzed, and the statistical analysis was performed with the use of SPSS17.0software.RESULTS The catheter-associated urinary tract infections occurred in 809 of 12 367 patients, with the infection rate of6.54%;the infection rate was 64.65%in the male patients,35.35%in the female patients, and there was no statistically significant difference in the proportion of the catheter-associated urinary tract infections between the male patients and the female patients. The infection rate was highest in the patients with no less than 71 years of age(7.63%),there was statistically significant difference in the proportion of the catheter-associated urinary tract infections among the age groups, the older the patients, the higher the infection rate was.The incidence of the catheter-associated urinary tract infections was 10.70%in the patients with the length of hospital stay ranging between21 and 40days,17.03%in the patients with the length of hospital stay no less than 41 days. The incidence of the catheter-associated urinary tract infections was 8.25% in the patients with underlying diseases, higher than4.17%in the patients without underlying disease;with the increase of number of the underlying diseases, the probability of emergence of the urinary tract infections became increasingly great.CONCLUSIONThe patients with old age or multiple underlying diseases are the high risk population in the ICUs,and it is necessary to take the cluster interventions to the catheter-associated urinary tract infections so as to effectively reduce the incidence rate.
