Abstract

Objective:To explore the changes and clinic significance of red blood cell volume distribution width in anemic patients. Methods:We determined coefficient of variation of red blood cell volume distribution width(CDW-CU) in 164 anemic patients with Sysmex F-820 blood cell analyzer device. Results:In iron deficiency anemia,MCV↓ and RDW↑;in megaloblastic anemia,MCV↑ and RDW↓;in acute aplastic anemia, the normality of MCV and RDW;in chronic aplastic anemia,MCV↑ and the normality of RDW;in hemolytic anemia,MCV↑ and RDW↑;in sideroblastic anemia, the normality of MCV and RDW↑;in simple small cellulars anemia,MCV↓ and the normality of RDW.Conclusion:The changes of RDW are sensitive and specificity in the classification of anemia and the diagnosis of iron deficiency anemia.
