Abstract
Aim: The significance of the mean corpuscular volume(MCV) and red cell distribution width(RDW) in the diagnosis of MD and MA is investgated. Methods: The values with MCV and RDW in patients with anemia were determined with a blood cell automatic analyzer. Results: In the patients with Mediterranean anemia(MD),MCV dropped,RDW raised, and no differences between α-MD and β-MD;the patients of megaloblastic anemia(MA),MCV and RDW rose;in the patients with acute lose blood anemia and aplastic anemia(AA),MCV and RDW were normal. Conclusion: The MCV and RDW of red blood cell parameter can be used as the reference clue to diagnose the causes of anemia and for differential diagnosis;it has certain instructive significance in the diagnosis and treatment of MD and MA.
