Applied anatomy of the jugular foramen and its application in surgery

Abstract
Objective To investigate the morphological location of the jugular foramen and its clinical significance.Methods 63 cases of adult skulls(126 sides)were observed and measured from shape,diameter size of the jugular foramen and adjacent relationship.Results The rate of accessory hole of jugular foramen in left side was 23.81% while the right side was 34.92%.There was a significant difference between inside and outside the mouth of the jugular foramen(P0.05),and there was no significant difference between left and right adjacent relationship of the jugular foramen(P0.05).Conclusion It was of a complex relationship in terms of jugular foramen and its adjacent structures.We should pay more attention to the clinical diagnosis and treatment.
