Effects of Liuwei Dihuang Decoction on Myocardial Cell in Diabetic Rats

Abstract

Objective To explore the effects of Liuwei Dihuang decoction on pathological myocardial cell in diabetic rats,and to provide experimental evidence for the pharmacological mechanism of Chinese medicine for diabetic cardiomyopathy.Methods Rats were randomly divided into control group,diabetic group,Liuwei Dihuang decoction low-dosage group(100 mg·kg-1·d-1),Liuwei Dihuang decoction mid-dosage group(200 mg·kg-1·d-1),Liuwei Dihuang decoction high-dosage group(400 mg·kg-1·d-1) and rosiglitazone group(100 mg·kg-1·d-1).Except normal group,rats in other groups were injected streptozotocin(4% STZ) intraperitoneally to induce diabetes,and bred for 4 weeks,then drugs were given after pathological myocardial cell in rats with diabetes occurred via Gastric gavage for 4 weeks consecutively.After this treatment,the electron microscopic sections of testis were made to observe the cell morphology and apoptosis of myocardium.Results Compared with the normal group,rats in the high dose group of decoction showed significant difference(P0.01) in inhibition of myocardial lesions and apoptosis,and rats in the middle-dosage group had showed inhibition effects too.Conclusion Liuwei Dihuang decoction can inhibit pathological myocardial cell significantly,so it is effective on prevention and treatment of diabetic cardiomyopathy.
