Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression of bone morphogenetic protein-7(BMP-7) and the expression of transform growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) in kidney tissue of type 2 diabetes rats Methods The rats were devided into control group, diabetes mellitus group and treated group. The expression of BMP-7 and TGF-β1 in kidney tissue and the relationship between them were studied by reverse transcript(RT) - PCR method. The medical statistics and correlation analysis were done by using SPSS 11.5 analysis software. Results The ratio of the optical density volume of the produce and inner reference (β-actin) was used as the level of expression. The level of expression of BMP-7 in the diabetes mellitus group was less than it in normal group markedly, but the level of expression of TGF-β1 was just reverse. The expression of the BMP-7 and TGF-β1 also took on negative correlation significantly (r= -0.819 P0.01).Conclusions The change of the expression of BMP-7 in kidney tissue of diabetes rats is accorded with that of TGF-β1 and the two factors interacted and regulated the balance of inner environment in kidney. They take an important role in the occurrence and progression of diabetic nephropathy. J Appl Clin Pediatr, 2005,20(5): 397 - 399
