Abstract
Objective To investigate the methods and effect of surgeries for intraocular foreign bodiy extraction. Methods 54 eyes with intraocular foreign bodies treated with vitrectomy from Aug.1997 to Oct.2002 in our hospital was analysed. Results 54 eyes with IOBFs were successfully extracted. Postoperative vision improved in 42 eyes(77.78%),12 eyes remained unchange (22.20%).In 10 eyes of retinal detachment,8 eyes were reattached (80.00%). Conclusion Vitrectomy is effective in extracting intraocular foreign bodies.
