Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical results of old non-magnetic intraocular foreignbodies extraction in posterior segment by vitrectomy. Methods Retrospective review the clinical records of 65 eyes of 62 cases of old non-magnetic intraocular foreign bodies treated by vitrectomy,to approach the clinical results and prognosis of old non-magnetic intraocular foreign bodies extraction in posterior segment by vitrectomy. Results Using vitrectomy and non-magnetic intraocular foreign bodies extraction, foreign bodies were extracted in 65 eyes in one time, the achievement ratio was 100 %.Postoperative visual acuity:Visual acuiiy of 42 eyes with retinal detachment improved in 12 eyes(28.57%),28 eyes remained unchanged(66.67%) and decreased in 2 eyes(4.76 %).Visual acuity of 23 eyes with no retinal dctachment improved in 15 eyes(65.22%),8 eyes remained unchanged(34.78%).Conclusion Old non-magnetic intraocular foreign bodies in post segment can be extracted effectively by vitrectomy. But the visual result is influenced by stagnation.Postoperative visual acuity without retinal detachment is evidently better than one with retinal detachment.
