Significance and expression of PDGF-C in human Glioma

Abstract

Objective:To observe the expression of platelet-derived growth factor-C,(PDGF-C) in human glioma and investigate their possible relationships to glioma's angiogenesis and clinicopathological features.Methods:S-P immunohistochemical staining was used to examine the expressions of PDGF-C in 60 cases of human glioma specimens and 6 cases of normal human brain tissue specimens from craniocerebral trauma operations with complete clinical data.The relationships to the expressions of PDGF-C in the pathological grade,clinical pathologic characters of human glioma were analyzed by statistical methods.Results: 1.PDGF-C protein was located in the cytoplasma of glioma cells with a positive rate of 71.7%,and in gradeⅡ,gradeⅢ,gradeⅣ glioma the positive rate was respectively 56%(14/25)、78.3%(18/23) and 91.7%(11/12).Α statistically significant difference in the expression of PDGF-C in different grades of gliomas was observed(P0.05);It is positive correlation between its expression and pathological grade(r=0.458,P0.01).Its expression rate in normal human brain tissue was low the positive rate was 16.7%(1/6).Conclusions: The positive expression of PDGF-C in glioma obviously raised accompany with the elevating grade,indicating that PDGF-C was positively correlated with pathological grade.
