Abstract

The pragmatism by Hu shi sings highly of the principle of subjectivity, breaking through the limits set by the traditional Chinese philosophical thinking mould, which advocates the unification of the human being and nature. His pragmatic methodology advocates the principle of positivism, breaking the framework of speaking for the saints. It has the significance of calling upon thinking liberation. From these two aspects, he initiates the Chinese philosophy of positivism.
