Abstract
Objective To explore the practical usability of static posturography(SPG) in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of vertigo. Methods A comparative study was carried out among 415 cases with vertigo to analyze the clinical usability of SPG with that of electronystagmography(ENG).Results Among these cases studied here,205(49.4%) were shown with abnormal indexes of SPG and 215(51.8%)were determined with canal paresis as suggested by ENG,with no significant difference between their efficacies(P0.05).However,the abnormal rate increased to 69.2%(287 cases)when these two procedures were combined together to make decision on the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of vertigo among them. Conclusions SPG holds significant implications in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of various conditions related with vertigo and the diagnostic efficacy can be improved further when it was utilized in a combined way with ENG in this field.
