Abstract

Purpose To investigate its possible role of the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in cervical lymph node metastasis in laryngeal squamate cell carcinomas( LSCC) . Methods The qualitative and quantitative stady of expression of VEGF and bFGF in 60 LSCC patients was made by flow cytometry and immunofluorecence method. Results A significant different ( P 0.01) expression of VEGF was found between the patients with cervical lymph node metastasis(FI = 2.35 ± 0.49) and those without lymph node metastasis( FI = 1.86 ± 0.57); and expeession of VEGF was positively correlated with expression of bFGF in LSCC( r = 0.346, p 0.01). Conclusion Expression of VEGF may play an important role and should be used as a reference marker in cervical lymph node metastasis from LSCC.
