Abstract
The paper explores the dyeing behaviors of wool fabric pretreated by chitosan with reactive dyes, and discusses the influence of chitosan's concentration and molecular weight, solution temperature, pH values and dyeing conditions on dyeing behaviors. Furthermore, by comparing the color fastness of chitosan-treated wool fabric and non-treated wool fabric, the optimal conditions of pretreatment is selected: the chitosan concentration is 0.83g/L, the solution temperature is 40℃, and the pH value is 3. The results indicate that the improvement of dyeing rate was remarkable when wool fabric was dyed with reactive dyes after treated with chitosan, and its washing fastness is not effected and rubbing fastness drops a little.
