Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical value of determination of serum cystatin C(Cys C) in diabetic nephropathy. Methods: Latex enhanced immunoturbidimetry was employed to analyze Cys C from 150 cases of diabetic patients and 100 healthy control group. And the values of serum urea and creatinine(CRE) were also detected. Results: The contents of serum Cys C suggested no difference between the patients free of nephropathy and the controls. The levels of Cys C were significantly higher in diabetic patients associated with nephropathy than in those of the controls(groupⅢ group free of nephropathy P0.05;groupⅣ groupⅢ P0.01;groupV groupⅣP0.01).Although the levels of UREA and CRE were significantly higher in groupⅣ and group V than those in healthy Controls(P0.01);there was not significantly difference between the patients free of nephropathy, groupⅢ and controls(P0.05).Conclusion: The sensitivity and accuracy of the determination of serum Cys C in diabetic nephropathy are improved and might provide valuable proof for early diagnosis in diabetic nephropathy.
