Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of Headgear-activator in the treatment of skeletal classⅡ division 1 malocclusion. Methods 11 growth patients with skeletal classⅡ division 1 malocclusion were treated with Headgear-activator. Pre- and post-treatment cephalograms were compared. Results After a treatment period of 6~8 months, the growth of the mandible was stimulated while the development of the maxilla was inhibited. ANB, OJ decreased significantly while SNB increased significantly. The sagittal disharmony of Angle's classⅡ malocclusion was corrected. Class Ⅰor slight class Ⅲ molar relationship was obtained. Conclusion Headgear-activator is fit for the early orthodontic treatment of skeletal classⅡ division 1 malocclusion. Headgear-activator is effective to improve the profile of the patients with skeletal class Ⅱ division 1 malocclusion.
