Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of Twin-block functional appliances in the treatment of skeletal class Ⅱ division 1 malocclusion.Method Fifteen growth patients with skeletal class Ⅱ division 1 malocclusion were treated with Twin-block functional appliances.Pre-and post-treatment cephalograms were compared. Results After a treatment period of 6~8 months, the growth of the mandible was stimulated.ANB,OJ decreased significantly, while SNB increased significantly. The sagittal disharmony of Angle's class Ⅱ malocclusion was corrected.ClassⅠ or slight class Ⅲ molar relationship was obtained. Conclusion Twin-block functional appliances is fit for the early orthodontic treatment of skeletal class Ⅱ division 1 malocclusion,is effective to improve the profile of the patients with skeletal class Ⅱ division 1 malocclusion.
