Comparing the various supports in dacryocystorhinogotomy

Objective To assess the therapeutic effect of applying various support,and find out an effective adjuvant method to improve the success rate of dacryocystorhinotomy.Methods 68 cases(87 eyes) chronic dacryocystitis were randomly divided into Tobradex group and Contrast group.All cases were treated by the procedures of dacryocystorhinotomy under endoscope.Tobradex group applied Tabradex ointment to support lacrimal duct,combined with 0.02% mitomycin C irrigation of lacrimal duct after operation,Contrast group applied intubation to support lacrimal duct,investigated and compared the therapeutic effect. Results The following up period was lasted for 3 months to two years in two group of cases.The success rate of Tobradex group was higher than Contrast group.The difference was significant by statistics(χ2=4.611,P0.05). Conclusions Applying Tobrader ointment to support lacrimal duct,combined with 0.02% mitomycin C irrgation of lacrimal duct in dacryocystorhinotomy seems a safe and effective adjuvant procedure,and can maintain higher success rate.
