Status and Countermeasures on the Geographical Indication Protection of Agricultural Products in Hainan

In order to protect and promote the characteristic agricultural products brands of Hainan Province,strengthen market competition,promote characteristic agriculture and regional economic development,increase farmers' income and to protect the rights of consumers,carrying out the protection of geographical indication products has become imperative.The author demonstrated the role of geographical indication for agricultural economic development and the advantages of developing geographical indication of agricultural products in Hainan,analyzed the current situation,main problems existed in geographical indication protection,and proposed relevant countermeasures for them.
