Treatment of chronic renal failure with colon dialysis

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of colon dialysis combined with coloclysis of Chinese herbal drugs and activated carbon on chronic renal failure (CRF). Method The CRF patients (n=60) were randomly divided into the control group treated with the routine western medications and oral decoction of Chinese herbal drugs, and the treatment group treated with colon dialysis combined with coloclysis of Chinese herbal drugs and activated carbon besides the routine treatment. The changes of symptoms and the levels of serum creatinine, urea nitrogen and hemoglobin (Hb) were observed before and after the treatment Result The symptoms of the patients in two groups were relived and the treatment group had a better therapeutic effect. The total effective rate was 86.7% in the treatment group and 53.3% in the control group. There was a significant difference between two groups (P0.05). Conclusion The therapy of colon dialysis combined with coloclysis of Chinese herbal drugs and activated carbon has a good therapeutic effect on chronic renal failure.
