Abstract
Taking into consideration the fact that a phenomenon of stressing oral expression while neglecting the written exists in current Chinese language education,this paper puts forward an idea that the educational philosophy of teaching Chinese characters should be strengthened in teaching Chinese characters to foreign students in China.Not only are Chinese characters a recording symbol system for the Chinese language,they also contain many elements of the Chinese culture and are important constituents of the Chinese culture and arts.In our Chinese-language education,the Chinese characters should be used as a bridge connecting language education and cultural arts education.In the process of language knowledge teaching,the good tradition of the Chinese culture should be extended.
