Abstract
Objective To investigate effects of Sijunzitang on expression and activity of caspase-3 in brain of aging mice.Methods Male KM mice were divided into 3 groups: young control,old control and Sijunzitang groups.Mice of Sijunzitang(SJZT) group were treated with intragastric administration of SJZT 12 g/kg,while mice of the other two groups were treated with distilled water.Immunohistochemical assay was used to detect the expression of caspase-3,and spectrophotometry was used to measure the activity of caspase-3.Results The expression and activity of caspase-3 were significantly increased in aging mice(P0.05,P0.01).Compared with those in old control group,the expression and activity of caspase-3 of SJZG group were decreased significantly(P0.05,P0.01).Conclusions SJZT could delay aging by slowing apoptosis.
