Abstract
Effects of different concentrations of oligochitosan were studied on seedling growth and antioxidative activities of wheat seedling stressed by Cd, under wheat seeds soaked in different concentrations of oligochitosan solution. Results indicated that under the treatment of different oligochitosan concentrations, the height of seedling increased, root length elongated as well as Chl a content, SOD, POD and CAT activities increased, which were stressed by Cd. When time stressed by Cd prolonged, SOD and CAT activities decreased, but the degree of decreasing was lower than that of the control. Nevertheless, POD activity increased and degree of increase was higher than that of the control. Alleviation effect of low concentration oligochitosan was better than that of high concentration oligochitosan, which indicated that different concentrations of oligochitosan could alleviate the toxicity of Cd.
