Expressions and significances of KAI1 and Caveolin-1 in gastric carcinomas

Objective To investigate the expressions of KAI1 and Caveolin-1 proteins in normal gastric mucosa,gastric atypical hyperplasia and gastric carcinomas tissues.Methond The expression of KAI1 and Caveolin-1 proteins in 22 cases of normal gastric mucosa,65 cases of gastric atypical hyperplasia,74 cases of gastric carcinoma were detected by SP immunohistochemistry method.Results There were decreasing tendency of the positive expression rates of KAI1 and Caveolin-1 in normal gastric mucosa and gastric atypical hyperplasia tissues,which had statistical significance during groups(P0.05).Fisher′s exact ratio test showed that the expression of KAI1 protein in gastric carcinoma was correlated to the depth of infiltration of carcinoma,vessel invasion and lymph node metastasis(P0.05),but not to with patients′ age and gender(P 0.05).Expression of Caveolin-1 protein was related to invasion depth or lymph node metastases(P0.05),but not to vessel invasion,patients′ age and gender(P 0.05).Spearman rank correlation analysis indicated that the expression of KAI1 was positive relevant to the expression of Caveolin-1(rs=0.827,P0.05).Conclusion The down-regulation and absence of KAI1 and Caveolin-1 proteins may be one of the important causes for the onset,development and progression of gastric carcinomas.
