Abstract

The friction and wear properties of graphite/PTFE composites filled with different content nano-SiC have been studied in this article. The worn surfaces were investigated by SEM. Also the abrasion mechanism of graphite/PTFE composites filled with nano-SiC was dicussed. The results reveal that nano-SiC and graphite can cooperate with each other in their dimension, and the composites filled with proper contents of nano-SiC and graphite can show obvious tribological synergistic effects,nano-SiC can improve load-carrying capacity and graphite can decrease the friction coefficient of PTFE composites, which greatly improves the wear resistance of PTFE composites. The composites filled with 5% nano-SiC and 5% graphite has the best wear resistance.
