Preliminary Study of the Apotheosizing Village God

Apotheosizing village god is a social and cultural phenomenon formed under the particular historical background and circumstances in which all Bai People worship the village god.Through analyzing the influence of the apotheosizing village god on Bai People's social life,this article attempts to interpret the important role that apotheosizing village god plays in cultivating the ethnic group's traits,strengthening the national sentiment,and perfecting national traditional ethics.Accordingly,this article also gives a brief discussion about the principle and accordance of apotheosizing village god,the relationship between the title of the village god and regulations for posthumous title of feudalist emperors,Taoism's influence on village god system,as well as how the cultural psychology reflected in the phenomenon of apotheosizing village god under the patriarchal clan system.
