Abstract
Purpose To explore the significance of cyclin E and p53 expression in breast cancer and their correlations.Methods The expression of cyclinE and p53 was evaluated by immunohistochemistry (SP method) in 82 cases of breast cancer,15 cases of benign breast tumor and 15 cases of normal breast tissue.Results The positive rates of cyclin E and p53 in breast cancer were 56.1% and 60.98% respectively,while no expression of cyclin E and p53 were detected in normal breast tissue and benign breast tumors (P0.05).The expression of cyclin E and p53 was closely correlated with clinical stage (P0.05).There was significant correlation between the expression of cyclin E and p53 in breast cancer (P0.05).The 5-year survival of patients with coexpression of cyclin E and p53 was significantly poorer (P0.05).Conclusions The co-expression of cyclin E and p53 might contribute to the progression of breast cancer,and could be a useful prognostic indicator of breast cancer.
