Abstract

[Objective] To evaluate CHROMagarTM Vibrio for isolation and presumptive identification of Vibrio vulnificus.[Method] CHROMagarTM Vibrio was compared with ChromID Vibro and thiosulfate-citrate-bile salts-sucrose(TCBS) agar culture medium,and the specificity,sensitivity and detection effect of CHROMagarTM Vibrio were determined by positive strain plate count and the method of artificially contaminated samples.[Result]Vibrio vulnificus yielded green circle diameter smooth colonies about 2-3 mm while culturing in the CHROMagarTM Vibrio(after 24 hours culture).In specificity study,CHROMagarTM Vibrio was better than ChromID Vibro and TCBS.In sensitivity,CHROMagarTM Vibrio and ChromID Vibro were better than TCBS.It could be found that the 3.0 cfu/ml target bacteria in all of the substrates can be detected after selective cultivation of sample.[Conclusion] The CHROMagarTM Vibrio shows good sensitivity and specialty,it can improve the detection rate of Vibrio vulnificus.
