Abstract

Objective To construct a three-dimensional finite element model of groups of the maxillary incisors. Methods After the Micro-CT scanning groups of the maxillary incisors, with the help of Geomagic Studio and Unigraphics NX4,the 3-D geometric model was built, then the mesh model was established in Ansys Workbench 11.0.Results The shape of the model which contains 35 873 elements and 62 359 nodes was lifelike and the model could be rotated, enlarged and reduced arbitrarily. The stress of the teeth could be analyzed separately or by groups according to different stress on the upper incisors. Conclusion The three-dimensional finite element model of groups of the maxillary incisors was constructed successfully. It had intact structure, could simulate the stress response of the maxillary incisors accurately.
