Abstract

Objective To study the combined effect of Iodine(I) and Fluoride(F) on the capacity of anti-oxidation of livers and kidneys in mice. Methods Biochemical method was used to determine the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and the contents of MDA in livers and kidneys after F with or without I in deionized water were administered to male mice for 10 weeks. Results High F combined low I,or high I and high F could significantly reduce the activities of SOD in kidneys (P0.05),and the activities of SOD of livers presented a reduction trend too,but the contents of MDA in livers and kidneys had no significant change(P0.05).Combined administration of proper concentration of I and high F to mice could decrease this kind of effect of F.Conclusions It was found that proper concentration of I may have ameliorative effects on damages to the capacity of anti-oxidation of livers and kidneys in mice by high F.
