Abstract
Based on the theory of annular gas-liquid two-phase flow, a model to calculate gas-cutting fluid flow in wellbore is established, and meanwhile a numerical solution to the model is given. The adding pressure control at wellhead after overflow being found is analyzed by studying the effects of different gas-cutting speed and wellhead working casing pressure on gas intrusion volume and downhole pressure. Two control methods have been proposed, one is for maintaining certain wellhead working pressure during circulation drilling and another is for increasing wellhead pressure after overflow being found. This operation mode can not only effectively mitigate the gas cut and the effect of intruded gas on borehole, but also control the expanding migration of gas-cutting fluid in borehole and reduce the risk of well control.
