Abstract

Traditional concept of technology held a dominant position in the Chinese feudal society. The formation of traditional technology concept was closely related with the backward way of production and Confucius cultures in China. It led to the ignorance of science and technology knowledge and provided no favorable environment for the development of science and technology in China, which accounted for the underdevelopment of science and technology in contemporary China. In modern history, with the invasion of the western big powers into China armed with advanced technology and also the introduction of modern industrial technology, Chinese people came to realize the important role of technology and gradually developed modern concept of technology in China .
