Respiratory care in the abdominal surgery patients during the perioperative period

Objective To strengthen the respiratory care of the patients during the perioperative period,and reduce the incidence of pulmonary complications after operation.Methods The initiatives were taken to eliminate the adverse factors,and the propaganda and education were given before operation,and the respiratory care was strengthened after operation in 217 cases of patients with abdominal surgery.Results 183 patients had no pulmonary complications,28 cases had mild lung infection,and 6 patients' atelectasis were cured by timely treatment.Conclusion The expectoration of patients who receive abdominal surgery may be affected because of the anesthesia,surgery,abdominal distension and stimulation of gastric tube.Consequently,the pulmonary infections may easily take place.So it was essential to strengthen the respiratory care.
