Abstract

Objective To explore the relationship between the metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and the expression of E-cadherin, nm23-h1 in HCC.Methods Immunohistochemistry (S-P method) was used to detect the expression level (represented by average absorbency) of E-cadherin and nm23-h1 in primary tumor tissue and paracancerous tissue of 40 cases of HCC.The results were analyzed in combination with the metastasis potential and Edmondson grade of tumor. Results The expression level of E-cadherin and nm23-h1 in tumor tissue were both weaker than that in paracancerous tissue. The expression level of E-cadherin and nm23-h1 in HCC had a close relation with differentiation degree and metastasis potential of tumor.Correlation analysis revealed that the expression of E-cadherin was positively related to that of nm23-h1 in tumor, paracancerous tissues and the tissues of group with metastasis. Conclusion Te expression of E-cadherin and nm23-h1 in HCC may reflect the metastasis potential and differentiation degree of HCC and the correlation analysis indicates that the expression of E-cadherin is positively related to that of nm23-h1.Combined detection of the expression of E-cadherin and nm23-h1 in HCC may provide a significant parameter to judge the clinical prognosis of HCC.
