Abstract

Objective:To investigate the effect and mechanism of nasal continuous positive airway pressure(nCPAP)treatment in patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS)complicated pulmonary arterial hypertension(PAH).Methods:Polysomnography(PSG)and Doppler echocardiography was performed in patients with OSAHS.The 21 OSAHS patents with PAH were divided randomly into two groups:nCPAP treatment group(11 patients,accepted nCPAP treatment)and control group(10 patients,taken orally inophylline).PSG and the pulmonary arterial pressure were compared in each group before and 3 months after therapy.Results:Apnea hyponea index(AHI),time of SaO2 90%,and Min SaO2 of night significantly improved,and the pulmonary arterial pressure significantly lower than before [(24.8±6.6)mmHg vs.(35.1±4.5)mmHg],P0.05 all in nCPAP group.There was no significantly improvement for above station index in the control group.Conclusion:The nasal continuous positive airway pressure treatment can improve sleep hypoxia,decrease AHI and relieve pulmonary arterial pressure in OSAHS patients accompanied with PAH.
