Abstract
Based on the experiment of eleven steel reinforced high strength concrete columns, the ultimate strength of steel sections and the shear strength of steel reinforced high strength concrete columns subjected to axial loading,bending and shear were analyzed. According to the study of experiment and some data related to it, the failure modes, the transfer mechanism and the shear strength of steel reinforced high strength concrete columns were discussed. Through the regression of experimental data, an approach for calculating the shear capacity of steel reinforced high strength concrete columns was proposed.
