Abstract
Objective To compare the application of the I-gel laryngeal mask and the common laryngeal mask in breast surgery with general anesthesia. Methods Sixty patients,ASA I or II,undergoing the breast surgery with general anesthesia were randomized into two groups:I-gel group (group I) and common group (group S).Achievement ratio of first time insertion, inserting time, airway sealing pressure, classification after bronchoscopy of fiberoptic bronchoscope, wake time and extubation time were recorded.HR,BP,SpO2,PETCO2 and peak airway pressure (Ppeak) were monitored 15,30,45 and 60 min after insertion. The complications were also recorded. Results Compared with group S,achievement ratio(76% vs 90%),airway sealing pressure [(23.8±4.5)cm H2O vs (27.6±4.7) cm H2O] and classification were better and the inserting time [(26.5±8.3)s vs (15.2±2.6)s] were shorter in group I (P0.05).There was no significant difference in wake time, extubation time, and HR,BP,SpO2 and Ppeak and complications in both groups. Conclusion Application of the I-gel laryngeal mask in airway management during breast surgery with general anesthesia is better than the common laryngeal mask.
