Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the use of antibiotics in 923 inpatients in our hospital for reference of clinical rational use of antibiotics.METHODS:The use of antibiotics in 923 inpatients in our hospital from May to June in 2008 was analyzed using pharmacy software system.RESULTS:The percentage of patients receiving antibiotics was 62.8%.The percentages of antibiotics used in single kind or in two or three kinds concomitantly were 77%,47.1% and 22.1% respectively.Leading the list in respect of DDDs were cephalosporines, followed by quinolones and aminoglycosides. The irrational use of antibiotics manifested itself as frequent change in the kinds of antibiotics, too many kinds used and prolonged course of treatment.CONCLUSION:The proportion for patients receiving antibiotics in our hospital was on the high side, and the irrational use of antibiotics was quite common.
