Abstract
Ethyl cellulose was synthesized successfully in one step based on reaction of cellulose with excess chloroethane and sodium hydroxide in toluene as diluent. The molecular structure of ethyl cellulose was characterized and confirmed by elementary analysis, FT IR and 1H NMR, and the compound obtained was final objective product. The content of ethoxyl group in obtained product was 43 98%.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
