Abstract

In this study,polymer( butyl acrylate) emulsions with the particle size of 143 nm and 167 nm were prepared using a semi-batch seeded emulsion polymerization method. Surface tension of the emulsions was investigated with the solid contents and concentration of emulsifier changed,and the stability of emulsions was explained. The result showed,a better stability was got with a smaller solid content. The CMC of the emulsifier in emulsions were 39. 89 mmol / L and 35. 08 mmol / L. The distributions propotion of the emulsifier on the particle surface and dispersed in the water were calculated by the curve of the surface tension,the theory of the emulsifier adsorbed was proposed and the model of emulsifier distribution was built.
