Experiences in nursing diabetes insipidus after microsurgery for pituitary adenomas

Objective To summarize the experience in nursing diabetes insipidus after the microsurgery for pituitary adenomas.Methods The clinical data of 36 patients with pituitary adenomas,who underwent microsurgery from January,2008 to November,2010,were analyzed retrospectively.The closely monitoring of the vital signs,the systematic observation of urine,and psychological,dietary and basic nursing were positively performed in 20 with diabetes insipidus of 36 patients after microsurgery for pituitary adenomas.Results Diabetes insipidus occurred in 20 patients,of whom,15 patients were recovered well in one week,and 5 patients in two weeks.Following up from 3 to 6 months showed that diatets insipidus did not recur in these 20 patients.Conclusion The positive and proper nursing is helpful to the recovery of the patients with diabetes insipidus following the microsurgery for the pituitary adenomas.
